Receiving a good night's sleep is important to your performance at work the next day. Those with insomnia may suffer a reduction in performance at work due to the conditions that result from a lack of sleep.
Those that slept well are more refreshed and ready to start the day. However those with inadequate sleep may feel fatigued and sleepy throughout the day. This makes it harder to work and lowers their productivity. In addition, it can lead to them feeling bored at work or falling asleep during work.
Insomnia also reduces a person's ability to concentrate and results in poorer memory. They might find it hard to remember everything they need to and may found it difficult to get their work done. Those with insomnia may also feel less satisfied with their job.
By being less alert and awake, those suffering from insomnia may also be more prone to make mistakes or cause accidents at work.
Sometimes a lack of sleep can cause a person to be moody and easily angered or irritated. This can lead to difficulties with getting along with co-workers and other employees.
A study by Sanofi-aventis, makers of AMBIEN CR, reinforced the fact that those with chronic insomnia can have a higher frequency of work-related problems including absenteeism, an increased rate of accidents, difficulty performing duties and less job satisfaction.
